9AAM - All About Media

Course Description

Do you enjoy watching movies and TV shows? Do you want to learn how to make films using professional movie making equipment and programs? 

Media Studies is a creative and technologically interesting course that focuses in understanding media in society, analysing how media is shaped for specific audiences, and telling stories in interesting and entertaining ways both in Aotearoa and the world. Particular focus is given to how media is produced to communicate messages about individuals and society in film and television.

Students will get the opportunity to participate in a variety of media production projects including short film, print, online media, and podcasts. As well as doing their own projects, students may get the opportunity to produce video content for the school newsletter.

Pathway

The skills developed in Media Studies are used in a variety of career pathways. These skills include designing, planning and presenting information and stories, working collaboratively, and creating engaging content.
