3SMO - Level 3 Success with Money
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs A. Scott, Ms G. Bloomfield.
An internally assessed course that draws on Level 3 Personal Financial Management and Law standards to help develop the skills to successfully manage money in real life and to understand how the law influences society.
Course Overview
Term 1
Students will apply their knowledge of justice to a legal case of their interest. They will also learn about how to finance the purchase of property and impacts of interests rates.
Term 2
Students will apply their knowledge of criminal intent and negligence to a legal case of their interest. They will also learn ways to increase personal income and the impacts of this on their tax rates and meeting financial goals.
Term 3
Students will research a recent law change in New Zealand and the process that was followed to make this change. They will also develop an understanding of credit options and benefits and disadvantages of different types of credit.
Term 4
Students will plan a long-term financial goal by working out a budget and contingencies for unforeseen events.
