1EPW - Level 1 English: Playing with Words

Course Description

Entertaining, informing and challenging ... our words have power.

The learning in this course is focused on bringing your ideas alive with your words. You will explore written, oral and visual texts in a variety of genres to learn about the craft of writing and expression. You will use your learning to create a portfolio of engaging and entertaining fiction and non-fiction stories, with the possibility of submitting your work for publication or self-publication. You will focus on developing the craft of written, oral and visual storytelling with a specific purpose.

Your learning in this course will be co-constructed with you to focus on ideas and texts of shared interest and personal value. Possible contexts could be screen writing, poetry, journalism, narrative writing and biography.

Please note:

In 2024, we are offering several different options of English to try to cater to student interests. These courses will only run if sufficient numbers of students select them. For this reason, you will need to choose a back up English course in case your selected course does not run.

Please ask your English teacher if you would like further clarification.

A personal laptop is strongly encouraged for all class learning and assessment work.
