1MUS - Level 1 Music
Course Description
The music course will examine a wide range of music. It will examine musical contexts (historical, social etc) and how this influences our responses as listeners, composers and performers. Students might study genres of music such as film music, traditional orchestral music, jazz or musical theater and use the knowledge gained to enhance the quality of their solo and group performance, composition and analysis.
Recommended Prior Learning
At least one year's tuition on an instrument is preferred and ongoing tuition (which can be arranged in school) is essential. Participation in a co-curricular ensemble is encouraged and expected.

External instrumental/theory exams (if applicable).
