1GSCI - Level 1 General Science
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr H. McLellan.
This 15 credit course will focus more on a general understanding of key science ideas, such as microbes, genetics, chemical reactions and physical phenomenon. We will focus on the nature of Science; considering different science perspectives, carrying out practical investigations, and taking advantage of science in everyday life.
We will spend more time for assessment to support the step up in literacy requirements.
This allows entry into all Level 2 Sciences, although for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, 1SSCI may be a better choice.
Pathway
In general, success in Level 1 Science is required for further study in the Level 2 and 3 sciences such as Chemistry, Biology, Earth & Marine, and Physics. There are needed if you are interested in many careers, such as in health services or engineering.
Assessment Information
Assessments are subject to variation based on this year's experiences with the standards, as well as the interest of the students and teachers.Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
