9ENG - Year 9 English
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Miss T. Harvey.
The Year 9 English course is focused on the world of the student where the concepts of identity, relationships, belonging and understanding others are central to their learning.
Students explore visual, oral and written texts from Aotearoa and other parts of the world. They study a range of features, ideas and perspectives, including those from te ao Māori, to develop their understanding of how creators use language to craft and communicate ideas.
Students develop specific reading skills including comprehension and close analysis through personal reading and a range of text studies. They make connections between texts and learn to communicate their analysis in oral, written and visual responses.
They develop writing skills in a range of authentic writing contexts and create their own texts and representations of their own ideas in both fiction and non-fiction forms.
