9ENG - Year 9 English
Course Description
The Year 9 English course is focused on the world of the student where the concepts of identity, relationships, belonging and tūrangawaewae are central to their learning. Students will explore visual, oral and written texts and contexts from Aotearoa and other parts of the world. Learning will focus on a range of features, ideas and perspectives, including mātauranga Māori and aspects connected to te ao Māori. They will closely analyse features of visual, written and/or oral texts, make connections between texts and learn to communicate their analysis in oral, written and visual responses. Students will develop specific reading and writing skills through a range of authentic learning contexts and develop an understanding of how creators of text use language to craft and communicate ideas.

A personal laptop is strongly encouraged for all class learning and assessment work.
