1EGE - Level 1 English: Genre Studies
1EGE Course DescriptionStudying genre helps us understand how we are influenced by the situations and language that encircle us. By exploring genre, we understand the experience of the story.
The learning in this course will be co-constructed with you to focus on how genres such as comedy, fantasy, gothic, biography, and sci-fi are constructed. You will develop your understanding of aspects of genre and explore a range of genre codes and conventions in written, oral and visual texts.
You will develop a portfolio of genre-based writing for the enjoyment and entertainment of a specific audience.
Please note:
In 2024, we are offering several different options of English to try to cater to student interests. These courses will only run if sufficient numbers of students select them. For this reason, you will need to choose a back up English course in case your selected course does not run.
