1ERE - Level 1 English: Real Word

1ERE
Course Description

How the arts can save the world… because scientists can’t do it alone.

Your learning in this course will explore ways to use fiction and non-fiction storytelling to inform and persuade audiences about factual, real-world situations and issues. You will learn how issues relating to science, the environment and technology are represented, promoted and challenged in journalistic writing, creative writing, and oral and visual communication, including documentary, film, and TV.

You will focus on how creative, informative and persuasive texts can support our understanding of how to solve scientific and technological problems in society.

Your learning in this course will be co-constructed with you to focus on topics of shared interest and personal value.

You will create a portfolio of writing based on self-selected topics and in a variety of forms.

Please note:

In 2024, we are offering several different options of English to try to cater to student interests. These courses will only run if sufficient numbers of students select them. For this reason, you will need to choose a back up English course in case your selected course does not run.

Please ask your English teacher if you would like further clarification.
