Course Description Recommended Prior Learning

You will need approval from the Head of Outdoor Education to be considered for this course. Full commitment will be expected if you are successful in gaining entry to this course. This means you will attend practical lessons 1 day a week until 4.30pm and attending all overnight trips. 


Students develop independent outdoor skills and gain greater outdoor experience. There will be opportunities for industry awareness and assistant leadership.

Term 1: First Aid and Whitewater Kayaking, 3 day trip Murchison

Term 2: Plan and organise own Outdoor Adventure, 3 day trip. Rock Climbing, overnight Golden Bay

Term 3: Alpine Camp, 4 day trip Nelson Lakes

Term 4: Lead Climbing, overnight Golden Bay
